What do you wear for an interview in a cutting-edge graphics company, or at a glossy fashion magazine? ASOS reveal their creative interview attire rules…
For a creative interview such as advertising or design, it’s important to show a little of your personality in your appearance. Adding a few accessories or a spot of colour to a business casual look is a great way to show off your imaginative nature, your positive energy and your creative flair.
Try mixing patterns, bright colours and prints into your attire which aren’t overbearing; a printed blouse or shirt, a red hair accessory or patterned fashion scarf, a statement watch or bracelet.
Although you want to be remembered for your originality, you still want to project a responsible, trustworthy image so be sure to add one professional item to your outfit. Avoid wearing anything that could be deemed offensive no matter how creative you might think it is – it’s not worth jeopardising your interview!
It is better to go too over-dressed than under-dressed but whatever you choose, be sure to wear it with confidence. The more self-assured and comfortable you seem, the more the interviewer will feel that you are ready for the job. So when you enter the room, make eye contact with your assessor, smile and shake their hand firmly and show them that you are the ideal candidate for the position.
